Located about a mile west of Albion College and downtown Albion, Wilde Oaks is not your standard Victoriana-type inn. Our spacious, New England saltbox style home, however, offers our guests amenities not often found in older homes. For starters, with no wall shared, all our rooms come with an emphasis on privacy.
All rooms come with standard features such as: private bath, premium beds and bedding, custom furniture and antiques, satellite television w/DVD/VCR (game box by request), wireless high speed internet (06/06), extensive film and book libraries, private decks, a Michigan porch, an exercise space with infra-red sauna, a Japanese-style pavilion hot tub, "bottomless soup pot" on Friday nights, Saturday afternoon complimentary snacks/desserts, non-alcoholic drinks fully stocked in refrigerators (in Shaman's Dream Suite and the common kitchen), and two room-rate options.
Wilde Oaks' location provides easy travel (20-45 minutes) to antiquing in Allen and Marshall, MI, country walks and trails, NASCAR/IRL racing at the Michigan International Speedway, Jackson, Ann Arbor, E. Lansing, The Pioneer Wine Trail, and, of course, Albion College and its many cultural and sporting events. Additionally, Wilde Oaks invites its guests to enjoy the silence and solitude of a traffic-less "road less traveled." Situated on 2 1/2-wooded secluded acres, Wilde Oaks routinely offers spectacular views of flora and fauna from decks/porches/balconies and hot tub at any time of the year. Guests are routinely lulled into dream-sleep by nature's spirit-song.
Owners Edward and Susan Kernish have created the ambience of "casual elegance at the edge of town" at a price less than staying in a three or four-star hotel. Guests may choose from two room rate options: no breakfast or gourmet breakfast.
