THE BED AND BREAKFAST ASSOCIATION OF SOUTHERN MICHIGAN OFFERS INSPIRATIONAL PLACES FOR ARTISTS TO WORK AND EXCITING ART ATTRACTIONS

(Jones, Michigan)—Michigan’s southern paradises are ideal for artists seeking inspiration from natural surroundings and scenic atmospheres. These getaways feature beautiful landscapes and quaint countryside locations to stimulate an artist in search of a place of solitude and calm, or visitors looking for exciting art attractions.

The Bed & Breakfast Association of Southern Michigan is a cooperative organization of exclusive Bed and Breakfasts/Inns located in the southernmost portion of Michigan's Lower Peninsula. Some of the inns themselves offer special packages geared towards artists, such as the Kalamazoo House Bed & Breakfast, which offers special discounts if guests book through the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, conveniently located next-door to the inn. There, guests of the inn can sign up for workshops, such as the Chihuly Glassblowing Workshop, offered in September 2005, and running through to January.

Others have art events occurring around them in nearby towns, such as DeLano Mansion Inn in Allegan, Michigan. The inn is near Saugatuck’s Visitor Information Booth, which hosts its monthly walking tour look at art galleries. For a more hands-on approach, join in on the “Express Yourself Art Barn Studio Nights”, where guests can come and see art in the making, or roll up their sleeves and create art-work of their own.
