SATISFY YOUR APPETITE WITH BED AND BREAKFAST ASSOCIATION OF SOUTHERN MICHIGAN’S SPECIAL FOOD AND WINERY ATTRACTIONS
(Jones, Michigan)—nicknamed “The Other West Coast” is Michigan’s great Southwest. From the state line north to Saugatuck, and from the lakeshore east to the vineyards beyond Paw Paw, the countryside contains over 10,000 acres of grapes, making Michigan’s southern Lower Peninsula a breeding ground for a world of wine. Spread amongst the grounds are 24 Bed & Breakfast Inns in cooperation with The Bed & Breakfast Association of Southern Michigan.
In close collaboration with the unique collection of wineries surrounding them, the Inns offer special food and winery accommodations for its guests. All of the inns offer gourmet dining, including freshly prepared full breakfasts and refreshments, some buffet style.
In fact, the Mendon Country Inn & Creekside Lodge has been named “best breakfast in Midwest” and a “unique dining experience”.
Some inns have more exclusive packages, such as Mendon Country Inn, which offers cooking classes taught by Chef Gérard, who teaches Master Cooking School Classes at Michigan State University.
In addition is Mendon County Inn’s weekly Friday evening desert buffet for its guests.
Many of the inns offer special wine events in association with nearby wineries. Willow Glen Pond Bed & Breakfast Inn offers its Pioneer Wine Trail Weekend, in which participants take along a gourmet picnic basket and a bottle of Michigan wine. Other inns, like the Albion Heritage Bed & Breakfast, for example, are in the process of developing daily wine-tasting/dinner events in connection with local wineries.
As if the dining options offered in the inns themselves were not enough, guests have an abundance of unique dining opportunities surrounding them as well. Most inns are in walking distance from a downtown area, sure to offer a plethora of restaurant options.
And in compliance with the surrounding dining options, some inns offer special packages providing guests with vouchers to use at local dineries. DeLano Mansion Inn offers guests the Historic Heritage Hill Home Tour and Dinner, which is a package allowing guests to tour Grand Rapids’ largest historical district, and afterwards, enjoy a meal at the Grapevine Restaurant at Gibson’s.
The 24 inns in collaboration with the Bed & Breakfast Association of Southern Michigan are spread throughout what has come to be known as “The Other West Coast” – an area surrounded by wineries, and wonderful dining options. The inns themselves offer dining options of the same high quality- with daily home-cooked breakfasts, and even some special wine and dine options to go along with it. These inns are sure to satisfy anyone’s appetite. |
